What's With the Feet?

22x30

Well here is another crappy photo of a recent painting of a couple. I am actually pretty happy with this one, wish it could be seen in person! Oddly, the man's feet make more sense in real life, and I have no idea why.

I did have some friends over today though, and my head is busting wide open from all the positive feedback I got on the figure paintings. More than a few people wondered how much they would cost and I had to pry some of the smaller ones that I did in Vermont last winter away from one couple. heh.

So this is good encouragement for me and fickle girl that I am, I now can't wait for Monday so that I can get back to work on them.

I wish I could seem them in person too. Art is so different online. Your use of color is very inspirational to me. I especially love your use of pink.

I've been meaning to comment on your figures. While I am still in love with your barns. I just love old barns leaning into the landscape. I have really been enjoying seeing the figures you're making. They are so genuine. So approachable, yet soft. Like the people in them are living life amidst a glow. Just my layperson impressions.

Ditto, what Maggie said. (: It's so true about the "living life amidst a glow" Lovely comment. Regarding the feet: one appears to be in a plaster cast which is white and the other appears to be clad in (black) footwear of that era. It is sort of a quirky question in my mind when I look at the painting, I wonder about the foot. Happy and not surprised you are getting rave reviews from these new figural paintings, they are DELIGHTFUL.

Thanks Leigh, I have mixed feeling about pink. It's not one of my favorite colors, but it almost always looks so right whenever I use it. So I use it:)

Thanks Maggie, what a nice compliment. so nice to hear and it really helps me to hear that.

Thanks Gary!

Diane, I think it's a cast too, or at least a wrapped foot with a sock on it. I just liked that his feet were different and what that might add to the image. Glad it does seem to translate in jpeg form although it still looks better irl:)
