Delivery and a (possible) New Gallery

Orange, 2007, Oil on Panel, 16x20

Well, my panic on Friday was unwarranted. Doug ended up not going to the hike on Saturday so he was able to do do some of the transportation and weekend errands. However, even that was not really necessary because once I got down to business, I was able to finish up the paintings in a few hours or so.

But, just to keep things real, there were a few moments of last minute drama. About a half an hour before we had to leave to deliver the work, I realized that I had forgotten to paint the edges of one painting. It was sitting in a spot where I don't usually keep work and I had overlooked it. So there was a bit of hectic activity on the way out the door, which was oddly comforting. I feel a bit nervous when things go smoothly. heh.

I also have some good news about a new gallery opportunity. A while back, an internet friend of mine gave my name to a gallery director in Atlanta and they were interested in seeing my work. I was in the process of ending my relationship with another gallery, also in Atlanta, and the timing seemed like a good sign. So I sent Twinhouse Gallery a few pieces and they will be "trying me out" for awhile. I know it could go either way, but the director is very enthusiastic about my paintings and I am feeling pretty positive about it all.

I like the addition of the powerline. I have a thing for powerlines. I haven't painted them much, but I keep wanting to. I have so many ideas bumping around in my head I never get time for, so the naked women take precedence, but powerlines are in there. I have this image of telephone poles marching off into the distance, each at a bit of an angle....

Anyway, I like the powerline.

Thanks Kateri, so glad you are visiting and thanks for the compliment about my colors.

Daniel, Thanks, I had a kind of bleached out look in mind for this and while that didn't exactly pan out, I am pleased with what did happen.

Chris, It's funny- I thought about your powerline images when I decided to include the line in this painting. You have become my muse:)

Normally I leave all of that stuff out, but once in a blue moon I leave it in and am usually glad that I did.

Aw, I'm touched.

I'm imagining the history books on this one. Helgeson and Rywalt met in late 2006, and from then on there was an increase in the appearance of powerlines in her paintings. Meanwhile, Rywalt reportedly always thought of Helgeson when painting vulvas.

Chris, eewww, not sure if thoughts of my vulva would be a benefit to your career:)

Did I say I thought of your vulva? I did not.

Thank god! And thanks for pointing out my misinterpretation (and now you know just how self centered I am - that surely everyone must be thinking of my vulva). Anyway, now I don't have to worry about seeing your version of my privates all over the internet:)

Congrats on the new gallery possibilities. A little hectic scurrying always makes me feel better too. If it's smooth, then something is very wrong.

Thanks, Maggie! Glad to hear you understand the perils of "smooth"!
