Orange Barn in Place, 2009, Oil on Birch Panel, 18x24
Today I am going to paint the cradles of these finished paintings black:
I did two large underpaintings yesterday. One is on the left here (30x40): and you can see where I had to stack other paintings to get them out of the way until I can get back to work on them. My son came home with an awesome ceramic sculpture that he made in school (on the table, far right), there are works in progress on the table, prepped panels on the floor and the vacuum cleaner is up in the studio so I can suck up all the dead flies and the flying ones too. If I can catch them that is. Heh. Now there's a mental image for you.
The other underpainting (24x36):
Plus a bonus shot of my chickens today:
They are on alert because our dog was barking a lot when I took this, and since she has actually killed a few of them in the past, well they should be concerned.....

Ok. The studio shots are killing me. I'm going to come work in your studio. The work is lovely, Tracy. And those chickens are funny funny funny.
he made that????????????
Sorry Mary:) If it makes you feel any better I try every day to not imagine how much less debt we'd have if I hadn't plunked all my earnings down into this project and paid of some credit cards instead. The future economy still looked great when we started the remodel....
Yes he did Gary. My son is incredibly awesome:)
I love the Orange Barn! It's beautiful - the colors are both relaxing and energizing at the same time.
I've often thought someone should start an Artist Barter site. So we could all trade the small, forgotten art that we never sold, to other artists who would appreciate it. (Not that the Orange Barn will remain unsold, I'm sure!)
Had a chuckle imagining you sucking live flies out of the air with the vacuum cleaner! Life sounds as if it is never dull where you are!
I certainly do love the glowing color which makes magic out of day to day subjects. Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks Laura, this was such a tough one to photograph! It looks ok but is one that definitely looks so much better in person. Arter Barter for Old Work, that's what I'd call it:) Great idea!
Thanks Elizabeth! Glad you enjoy the fly catching visual. I have learned that sucking them out of the air is not as easy as it sounds:)
Love the orange barn - and a bonus shot of chickens - what a day!
Tracy, your work looks great. Good luck on your show. I would love to see all your pieces hanging together, they will look wonderful together.I really enjoy reading your blog. I like your writing style. Keep up the good work.Any helpful hints on painting the sides of the panels? What kind of paint do you use for that?
