More Snow

The Road, 4x6, Oil on Cradled Panel, 2008

Well, it's a snow day today, so I figured I'd better get a post up before either the satellite goes down or we lose our power. I managed to get out to the hen house this morning and I also filled all the bird feeders (normally my son's job, but I decided to let everyone sleep in this morning). I also got out to the barn to look for more of my old work. We have had a lot of snow this winter already, and even more last night and today and I am pretty sure I pulled more than a few muscles while climbing over the snowbanks and trying to carry a bucket of hot water, a bucket of scratch, a bucket of bird seed and a portfolio and a suitcase while walking in three feet of snow. Not all at once of course, several trips were involved here.

So today I am going to do some painting and then I will be going through the old work later on. I did take a quick peek though and there will be an added bonus for all you super lucky folks-I found some things that I did in high school! Most of it revolves around images of Jim Morrison and The Doors, and I probably should be too embarrassed to post them, but what the heck.

Oh and by the way, this morning I added about eight new paintings to my sales blog, including the one above.

Internet and a Fellow Blogger Visits Us

Horizon Lines (Three), 2008, Oil on Panel, 4x6

I meant to post yesterday, really I did, but:

a. Our satellite was down again and we had no access to the internet for a day and a half. It is irritating to me, but a real problem for Doug. He works at home (when he is at home that is) and that means that he needs the internet. So he begged the service guy to come today and he took pity on us and came by this afternoon. He said the dish had been installed improperly with short bolts and it was moving all over the place. Combine that with our windy location and he was surprised we didn't lose our signal more often. He fixed that problem, changed a few settings and we are back online. Hopefully this will be the last of the problem.

b. Good thing I couldn't be distracted by the internet though as we had visitors on Thursday evening and so there was much preparation! Cleaning, cooking, picking squash (our first batch pictured below) and I expect about five thousand more in the coming weeks. Note the conjoined twins:

It was so nice to meet Melody, her husband (he and Doug got on quite well and there was much talk about fishing), and her beautiful daughters who were just delightful. We spent a great evening talking about art, blogs, gardens and everything else and I was super excited to show off my new studio. Heh. We had planned a cookout and dinner on the patio (which was freshly weed whacked) but all of a sudden it got dark, cloudy and chilly and so we ate by candlelight in the dining room. The food turned out great and they were good sports about the zucchini and yellow squash that I added to nearly every dish (chocolate zucchini cake? It WAS good...).

Oh and there was an art exchange by the end of the evening! Yayy!

Thanks Melody, for visiting and making my day. Am wishing today that we lived closer to each other. Or at least in the same country:)

Winter Weather

House and Barn, 2007, Oil on Panel, 12x16

I didn't intend to take a nearly week long break from posting, however Mother Nature must have felt that I should. We got a bit of the recent storm, and while it wasn't awful for us, mostly ice and just a few inches of very wet, chunky snow, it did knock out our computer satellite service for a few days and of course the kids had a snow day on Monday. Extending their "spring" vacation to eleven fun filled days. Heh. I admit to doing a little dance when I saw the school bus come up the road this morning.

Anyway, while I did miss ya'll, I also was quite productive without the constant temptation of the magnetic, studio time sucking super computer. There is much to discuss, but I have just one hour before I must play mommy again and so I have to finish up in the studio.

Tomorrow I will be back with a real post.
