Just a Quickie...

Forward Trees, 2006, Oil on Panel, 30x30

...heh. I am sure you are all missing me terribly, but I am overwhelmed with end of the school year schedules, outdoor work and visitors. I'll be back on Monday with a regular post, and just to get you by for a few days, I am putting up an image of a new painting that I am pretty excited about. It's bigger than I usually work and incorporates my least favorite, but most used color, pink. Much of the under painting is still visible (the tree area) which is something I prefer, but unfortunately it doesn't always work out to leave it showing. When it does though, I am a happy girl!

Your lushious underpainting technique is really very special. Had hoped to stop by your gallery in Atlanta today to view in person but we made a turn-around trip of it due to the oppressive heat wave we are dealing with in these parts. Will be going back later this summer, it can't be any hotter then than now.

Thanks, Jeff

Shan, mommy vs artist, normally there isn't a lot of confilct but every once in awhile...

Karen, Thanks for the compliment and am truly sorry about the heat. Probably humid too? Thanks for thinking about seeing my work, I hope to see yours in person too. I know there is much that is not seen on a computer screen.

Thanks Amber, for the compliment. I love color and putting colors together. The more obnoxious the better!

Just started "blogging" and ran across your blog. Its nice to know there are others out there balancing the mommy/artist role. If your work is reflective of how you are handling everything you must be doing wonderfully. Love the paintings, looking forward to seeing more.

Hi Shari, Thanks for commenting and it's nice to "meet" another artist/mom. The painting up on your blog looks really interesting and I look forward to seeing and reading more. Do you have a website that has more of your work and info?

No website yet, I am hoping to have one by the end of summer. The blog was quicker to set up so I started there, I am probably doing things backwards but what else is new. I'll have more work up soon.

With everything else that has been happening, I'm afraid I missed the opening at BoxHeart on the 10th!

Please, put me on your update list if you have one.
