Painting and Dumb Stupid Exercise

Last Bit of the Day, 2009, Oil on Birch Panel, 11x14

Well, I have officially started to work on the paintings for my upcoming show at Carrie Haddad Gallery in Hudson, NY, in August. I feel very relaxed about this, right now anyway! I have a lot of work on hand already, which is good, because it is going to be tough to get much done in the coming month. The kids have crazy busy schedules for the next few weeks, then school is out for the summer and they will be home more.

In addition I have been working on getting my fitness back and have been trying to work out 2x a day almost everyday. I have been doing that for several weeks and while I am feeling good, it sure does take a chunk of time out of my workday. Love/hate dumb stupid exercise......

Tracy, I haven't commented on your blog posts before, but am a fan of your work and blog. I just love the opaque quality to much of your work and the minimal compositions of your more abstract paintings.....and your humor! I found the info you posted on panels very helpful.

Love the red car in the shadows of this painting. It makes me want to look further. I admire you for sticking to an excercise routine. I usually consider vacuuming and doing laundry to be plenty of excercise.

Love this piece.....the red taillights on the car seem to draw you into the work even further.
Exercise.......yuck....never have liked it but as much as I hate to say it......a necessity!

Love the painting. I am also back on the exercise bandwagon. I have just gotten way too fat! I only do an hour a day, but so far 15 days in a row! What kind of exercise are you doing? I dusted off my Firm tapes. I do have to admit I am feeling much better.

A wonderful painting Tracy. Those colours just sing together.

Nice painting - a lovely feel to it. I have tried to photograph that moment on the highway, when the sun is hitting the tops of the trees, but all else is in shadow. I nearly got arrested one evening, as I was of course shooting through the windshield while driving and a cop saw me. You've painted what I've seen. My title was going to be Last Car on the Highway...
