Juried Show Entry

Not the best photos ever, but hopefully you can see past that and help me decide which painting to enter in a local regional show. I like (and dislike) both for different reasons. If I had more time this morning I'd add one of those little voting thingies but will just have to settle for votes in the comments. Thanks!

Chair Lady is 40"x30"

Five People is 24"x36"

PS. It is entirely possible that I may decide at the very last minute to enter a landscape or barn. Just so you know..........

i think the solo piece. one person, makes more of an impact that the group of people. feels more intimate.

The chair lady. It has a calming feel to it.

I like the chair lady, too, because of the interest and depth created by the folds of her dress.

What I like about Five People is the value contrast throughout the painting.

Can you only enter one? I was told recently that submitting to the limit is a good way to make an impact on the jury.

If only one, I'd go with the chair lady allowing for a not so good photo?

Chair Lady is definitely in the lead!

Kaylyn, yes, I can only enter one and they jury from the actual piece rather than from a jpeg. So that it good cause this one is a tough one to photograph. Actually all my work is:)

Chair lady. Definitely. Love the soft haziness of it and shapes. One of your best figures in my humble opinion. :)

first impression: "Chair Lady". As Paula said - more of an impact. Plus she reminds me of a grandma watching her little grandkids play just off the picture plane.

I just started following your blog last month --really enjoying it!
I'd vote for chair lady -- I love her hands and the sculpture-like lines of the chair.

Chair lady! The group painting is nice too but the single chair lady has a wonderful composition of few tones, the shape of the arms, chair arms, and strip of belt all mirroring other parts of the painting. Nice!
