Dragonflying, 6"x9", Oil on Birch Panel, 2010Ok, well, things have been hectic here, but today I am finally getting these last two bug paintings photographed and formatted as jpegs.
I really have to get started on some new portraits for the show in September, however, I think I will be trying to do some more of these insects here and there. You know, for fun. It's a real challenge for me to do these on a small scale (mostly because of the underpainting part), but I will attempt to do a few to post on my sales blog.
Been busy as a bee out in the garden too, so pictures of all that next time!

I really loved the blue + dragonfly in the thumbnail. Brought me right here, and then I got to see those killer bees. I'm nuts for them!
Same here, was drawn in by that dragonfly. This is a really wonderful new chapter in your work.
Beautiful work going on here!
Hi Tracy,
I've missed your posts & love seeing the new work :) These insect paintings really are portraits, you've given them each such personality! Looking forward to seeing your garden...
Love the dragonfly! Just beautiful!
Lovely dragonfly and bee.... thanks.
Haven't checked in on you in ages....I love your bugs!! What a really different subject for you to paint. And, hey, those black paintings are so cool, kind of eerie but they engage you.
If you haven't already, you should check out the works of Tim Cantor...he also does some awesome bees etc.!
